Inge Norgaard

March 14, 1952 – August 23, 2018

Inge’s artistic passion found an outlet in many media, one of which was hand woven tapestry. She spun and dyed her wool weft yarns. her imagery was inspired by everything from the mythology of her Danish culture to the world she encountered in international travel and in the intimacy of her garden.  TAPS members remember Inge’s strong opinions about art and art making and the curiosity that fueled her own art practice.

In Inge’s words:

I was taught tapestry weaving in Denmark in the 1970s and it has been a constant thread running through my life ever since. My work has spanned from the Norse mythology in epic work, social political issues, personal journeys and I always come back to nature. I love to transform my drawings from lines to simple elegance and movement in a tapestry.  My work is in public places, private collections, museums and shows in Europe and America and throughout the world.
